For example, your use of light is simply lovely and far more sophisticated than you have any right to given the brief amount of time you've been painting. Between the use of light and colour, the painting has life and warmth. The ability to convey that kind of feeling will take you much further with painting than experience (and hence less frustration) with the mechanics of a self-portrait. <BR/><BR/>I especially love the gracefulness of the neck and collarbones - their colouring even suggests a bit of vulnerability. <BR/><BR/>Please don't let what's-his-name define your sense of yourself in this medium.
